Queensland Labor frontbencher Yvette D’Ath says it is unfair to suggest the Palaszczuk government was not moving fast on planned domestic violence reforms in a week which saw two Gold Coast women allegedly murdered by their partners.
The comments come after the passage of sweeping and contentious youth justice system changes on Thursday within two months of their announcement, ahead of the introduction of an assisted dying bill next month.
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk pledged a fast-tracking of the euthanasia laws at her October election campaign launch, with a draft bill expected to be submitted to government by the Queensland Law Reform Commission within weeks.
